    The origin story

From the peaks of the mountains to the heart of Tanzania's Tsavo Valley, the flamboyant Umba sapphire makes an entrance at Gemmyo.

Named after the river in which it was discovered, Umba, this gem has been naturally polished by water for thousands of years and has virtually never been revealed to the general public.

What makes it so special? Beyond its extreme rarity, Umba sapphire offers a palette of colors and brilliance that are simply extraordinary for an unheated crystal.

    A crystal of unique rarity

Umba sapphire is such a rare stone that its export has been drastically curtailed, if not banned... and even the most experienced specialists are unable to unearth these much sought-after rough crystals.

After months and months of work, our ambition has become a reality. For the first time in fine jewelry, Gemmyo is bringing to light this rare gem, usually reserved for the most exceptional jewelry sets. What a source of pride!

    A bold move

With this limited edition, Gemmyo was making a unique gamble: highlighting a gemstone, not just a color.

For the first time in the Maison's history, it was not possible to order online. The brilliance of this sapphire could only be admired in-store.

From the soft light of dawn to the blazing sunset, Umba sapphire is one of the only stones with such naturally pronounced hues, without any treatment or heating.

From its vast range of colors, Gemmyo has selected the 7 most delicious shades: purple, carmine, peach, cognac, daffodil, chartreuse, meadow green... so many colors, so many nuances and so many emotions.
